Resolved:

1. That the proposed methodology for calculating Hackney Carriage/Private Hire fare increases be approved.

2. That the initial proposals for the Hackney Carriage/Private Hire fare increases be considered by the Licensing Committee.

308The Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director for Place which sought Members approval for a new method of calculating any Hackney Carriage/Private Hire fare increases.

Two representatives of the SLTDA attended the meeting to provide a brief overview of the new methodology for calculating fare increases. The Committee asked a number of questions which were responded to by the SLTDA representatives.

The Committee noted that the Council's legal department would consider any legal implications that might arise from the new methodology in respect of competition law.
