The Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director Support Services which outlined action taken in accordance with Council Procedure Rule 46. Resolved: That the submitted report be noted.

Exclusion of the Public.
Resolved: That, under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the items of business set out below on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act, and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

The Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director Children & Learning which sought agreement for appointments to local authority vacancies caused by governors reaching or nearing the end of their term of office at the following schools: Bournes Green Infant, Friars, Heycroft, Hinguar, Leigh North Street, Porters Grange and Thorpe Greenways Federation. Resolved: 1. That the school governors be appointed to fill the vacancies as detailed below: Councillor Kaye - Bournes Green Infant Councillor Chalk - Friars Primary Councillor Betson - Heycroft Primary Councillor Hadley - Hinguar Primary Councillor McMahon - Porters Grange Councillor Woodley - Thorpe Greenways Federation Jean Edwards - Leigh North Street Junior School. 2. That in the delegations to the Corporate Director Children & Learning in paragraph 4.6 of Part 3, Schedule 3 of the Constitution, bullet points 4 and 5 be deleted and a new delegation be added in the following terms:- "to make/propose appointments to School Governing Bodies and appointments of additional Governors to schools in special measures, in consultation with all members of the Appointments and Discplinary Committee. (If any member of the said Committee objects the matter shall go to the Committee for determination)." 3. That the Appointments & Disciplinary Committee terms of reference, paragraph 6.5.3(b) be amended in the following terms:- "To exercise all the powers of the Local Education Authority in respect of the appointment proposal and removal of school governors to schools in the Borough, subject to the powers delegated to the Corporate Director Children & Learning in paragraph 4.6 of Part 3, Schedule 3 of the Constitution."

The Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director Children & Learning which sought agreement for an appointment to a local authority vacancy caused by the governor reaching the end of her term of office at Friars Primary School. Resolved: That Marion Folkard be appointed to fill the vacancy at Friars Primary School.
