Resolved :-

1.That no objection be raised to the proposals of the Boundary Commission for England.

3.That the re-alignment of the Southend West Constituency to incorporate the whole of Prittlewell Ward into that Constituency be welcomed.


379 Local Government Election Polling Hours - Polling Day Staff Fees
Resolved:-

1.That the fees paid to Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks be the same as that prescribed by the Deputy Prime Minister's Office for Parliamentary Elections.

2.That the fee for counting votes at Local Government Elections be £30.00

3.That these fees be increased annually by an amount equivalent to the percentage increase applied in the Local Government Pay Award for staff on NJC Conditions of Service.

378The Committee considered a report by the Chief Executive and Town Clerk concerning the publication by the Boundary Commission ofits recommendations for changes to 16 of the 17 existing constituencies in the area of South Essex.
379The Committee considered a report by the Chief Executive and Town Clerk concerning proposals published by the Electora Commission to unify polling hours for all elections in the United Kingdom to conform with those of Parliamentary Elections i.e. 7.00am to 10.00pm.
These proposals impact on the payments made to polling staff and the fees paid to staff engaged in the counting of votes.
