The Council considered a report of the Executive Director (Strategy and Change) concerning the award of Honorary Alderman to Mr Derek Jarvis, former Councillor and Mayor of Southend, for his eminent services to the Council.
Councillor Cox proposed (seconded by Councillor Courtenay) that Mr Derek Jarvis be admitted as Honorary Alderman.
It was unanimously resolved:
That, pursuant to Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the title of Honorary Alderman be conferred upon Mr Derek Jarvis in recognition of his eminent services to the Council.
