Urgent Action Needed for Mendip Crescent/ A127 crossing safety

We the undersigned petition the council to Urgently assess the safety of the pelican crossing at the bottom of Mendip Crescent adjoining the A127/ Prince Avenue. Red light cameras and better timing system, and warning signs of a school crossing.

The pelican crossing is controlled by the overall traffic light timers at Kent elms, which means cars straddle to crossing London bound awaiting to join the filter lane to turn right into Rayleigh Road. Cars pay no attention to the red light, and it is a daily occurrence for school children to be commencing crossing with a green man signal whilst cars who are frustrated with the traffic drive through on a red light signal to make the filter lane into Rayleigh road. There have been multiple local people who have complained and raised concerns about this crossing and how dangerous it is. It is a very high footfall crossing for Eastwood Primary and Academy students
