Stop cancellation of 2026 Southend election

We the undersigned petition the council to give their assurances that they remain committed to ensuring the local elections for Southend City Council in May 2026 should take place as scheduled, and will not seek a deferral of these elections from central Government.

Essex County Council voted in favour of cancelling their local elections due to be held in May this year because of devolution, which central Government duly obliged.

We must not let ourselves be caught out in the same way and must indicate to Southend City Council in the strongest possible voice that our right to vote be upheld and our elections go ahead as planned in May 2026.
