Resolved: That, under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the items of business set out below on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act, and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

Secondary School Transport Appeal - Pupil SF
The Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director Children & Learning, together with supporting correspondence from the parents of pupil SF, in connection with an application for home to school transport assistance. Resolved: That the appeal be allowed and home to school transport assistance be granted by reason of extenuating circumstances for one term from April 2011 to July 2011.

The Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director Children & Learning, together with supporting correspondence from the parents of pupil CB, in connection with an application for home to school transport assistance. Resolved: That there being no circumstances reported which would justify a departure from the Council's policy the appeal be dismissed.

Appeal Against Dismissal - Employee SL
The Committee considered an appeal against dismissal submitted by employee SL. The Council's case was presented by DP supported by CG (HR). Mr SF was called as a witness for the employer. The appellant was in attendance with his union representative, Mr TS, who presented their case. Having considered all the written evidence presented, the Committee: Resolved: That the decision to terminate the contract of appellant SL be upheld on the grounds of incapability due to sickness.
