Resolved:

That, under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting for the item of business set out below on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part 1 Schedule 12A to the Act, and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

434The Committee considered an appeal against termination of employment on grounds of gross misconduct from employee KL. The appellant was unable to attend this hearing. The Council's case was presented by JL, supported by JG. The Council also called two witnesses.

The Committee satisfied itself that the employee had been afforded the opportunity to be represented at this meeting by a friend, trade union or their own representative. The employee had confirmed that they were happy to proceed in their absence.
