Home to School Transport for a Pupil with a Statement of Special Educational Needs - Pupil LT
The Committee considered a report of the Director of Children & Learning, together with supporting correspondence from the parent of pupil LT, in connection with a request that LT was picked up first and was dropped off last by the contractor providing the home to school transport. The Committee noted that LT was in receipt of home to school transport and the main consideration was whether to support the parent's request. The Committee was advised that the contracts for home to school transport stipulate a journey time of no more than forty-five minutes, and up to one hour in exceptional circumstances. It was advised that if the pick-up/drop-off times were changed the journey time would increase to one hour and twenty minutes. Resolved: That there being no circumstances reported which would justify a departure from the Council's policy and that it would be discriminatory towards other parents using the home to school transport service the request from the parent of pupil LT to change the pick-up and drop-off time be refused.
