Resolved:-

That the minutes of the meeting held on 6th August 2003 be confirmed as a correct record and signed.
976 Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2007
Resolved:-

1. That Polling Places be defined as the Polling District except for those detailed in Appendix 2 to this report where the polling place be extended to include the existing polling station as it is outside the relevant polling district.

2. That Polling district EA be split to create a new polling district incorporating Shoebury Garrison Site with effect from the audit of the Register to be carried out in the autumn of 2008.

3. That delegated authority be given to the Electoral Registration Officer, in consultation with the chairman, to make any minor changes to polling places that may arise other than as part of a review.
977 Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007: new powers for local authorities in England concerning electoral matters
Resolved:-

That the powers granted under the above legislation to enable Local Authorities to vary their electoral arrangements be noted.
978 Local Government Elections - Staff Fees
Resolved:-

1. That Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks be paid fees equivalent to those paid at Parliamentary Elections (European and National). Such fees to be revised for local elections when they are revised for Parliamentary Elections.

2. All other election staffing fees to be at the discretion of the Returning Officer, but to be within the overall budget allocation for elections.

976The Committee considered a report by the Electoral Registration Officer proposed amendments to polling districts and polling places in the Parliamentary Constituencies of Southend West and so much of Rochford and Southend East as falls within the Borough following a review carried out in accordance with the provisions of Section 16 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 and The Representation of the People Act 1983. The Electoral Registration Officer confirmed that following this years Local Elections he intended to carry out further reviews in specific areas and would report to a future meeting of the Committee.
978Arising from Minute 379, 6th August 2003, the Committee received an oral update on changes to election funding following the standardisation of polling hours for all elections.
