3The Working Party received a report of the Corporate Director Enterprise, Tourism and the Environment that appraised Members of proposed highway safety improvements on roads near Leigh North Street Infant and Junior school, Earls Hall Infant and Junior School and Edwards Hall Primary School and which sought approval to recommend to the Cabinet Committee that the statutory consultation required to implement the proposals be undertaken. Large scale plans illustrating the proposals were displayed at the meeting.
4The Working Party received a report of the Corporate Director Enterprise, Tourism and the Environment that sought Members' approval to recommend to the Cabinet Committee that an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order be implemented in Pantile Avenue to prohibit parking on the north side from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and to prohibit parking on the grass verge on the south side 24 hours daily.

The Working Party noted that the parking problems in Pantile Avenue had been worsening in recent weeks. I also noted that Cabinet would be considering a report on Residents' Parking Management Schemes at its meeting on 16 June 2009. It was therefore suggested that, subject to the outcome of that report, consideration be given to the provision of parking bays on the south side of Pantile Avenue which could be allocated by issue of a parking permit to properties 1-9 Pantile Avenue for 6 months.
5The Working Party received a report of the Corporate Director Enterprise, Tourism and the Environment that appraised Members of the petitions that had been received since its last meeting.
