The SACRE formally constituted as the Southend Agreed Syllabus Conference to consider and make recommendations concerning the new RE Agreed Syllabus for 2024-2029.

The RE Advisor and representative from RE Today provided a powerpoint presentation presenting a detailed overview of the RE Agreed Syllabus Model (Model A Plus) provided through RE Today and will be tailored to meet the statutory and local level requirements.  The presentation also provided an overview of examples of good practice and what the RE Today Syllabus Model A+ can provide for Southend. 

The SACRE asked questions which were responded to by the RE Advisor covering the key differences between the current and proposed new syllabus, e.g. a stronger focus on world views.

Resolved:

That the RE Today Syllabus Model A+ be adopted as its RE Agreed Syllabus for the period September 2024 to July 2029 and arrangements be made to launch the new syllabus with schools.

SACRE Members Handbook attached

The SACRE received the induction and training handbook produced by NASACRE.  The handbook would be provided to all SACRE members.

That the SACRE induction and training handbook be noted.

The SACRE was advised by the Clerk that a significant review of the Constitution and Membership will be carried out and a progress report will be provided to the next meeting on 16^th April 2024.
