Help us make Southend Marine Activities Centre an Asset of Community Value
Southend City Council must agree to our Right to Bid application
sent on 1st June 2022 to enable Urban Cure CIC the flexibility and
freedom to develop SMAC so our people and places can thrive.
Central Government have given new powers to community organisation such as ours, so we can regenerate this building and we are going to use them.
As stated within the Act, local councils alone cannot make great place to live, social entrepreneurs like Urban Cure CIC and people who take pride in their community who wants to improve the social value and investment within their communities do.
Urban Cure CIC Is fighting to save our redundant public building
that can make an enormous difference to the lives of the people of
· Diverting antisocial behaviour
· Investing in our community
· Advocating fairness and diversity
· Sharing our maritime history
Urban Cure CIC wants to redress the balance of water sport,
arts, music and culture for all, not just the privileged few. We
also want to ensure that SMAC becomes a Royal Yachting Association
accredited centre to preserve our marine activities for schools and
children and provide leisure activities that respond to our
community needs afloat and ashore for the long term.
The council has not consulted the community on what they should do with the building.
How does this support our community? It is very apparent that the council has not considered the social value and return of their venture to the community.
It would be useful before any decisions is made regarding SMAC, the community is consulted environmental benefits to the community whilst considering its social considerations to our community.
We are all responsible for our city, therefore we want you to help us to make it flourish by supporting our mission to make this redundant building an Asset of Community Value by signing our petition.
United we will win this building back into our community.
