This is not a political viewpoint but rather an environmental one. It is proven that light pollution is at an all time high, particularly in the South East. The evidence of the negative medical impact of excessive night time lighting is very strong. Also the negative impact of lighting on wildlife is well documented. The evidence regarding the impact of lighting on crime is varied and debatable. Few roam the streets regularly late at night, so dimming after 10pm seems a good compromise. CCTV automatically switches to IR lighting in low light conditions.
