residents only parking for the cul de sac at the Eastern end of The Leas in Westcliff on Sea

We the undersigned petition the council to introduce residents only parking for the cul de sac at the Eastern end of The Leas in Westcliff on Sea

The Eastern end of The Leas in Westcliff on Sea from the junction with Palmerston Road is a cul de sac. There are only four properties fronting onto this part of The Leas
No.1 post code SS0 7SZ
No.2A post code SS0 7ST
No.3 post code SS0 7ST
Garden Flat Palm Court The Leas post code SSO 7SU
BACKGROUND
Some SATNAVs show the narrow pedestrian pathway through to Manor Road as part of The Leas roadway which is misleading Vehicles parked along both kerbs do not leave sufficient room for three point turn manoeuvres The two original white painted lines in the road protecting the back entrance to the two blocks of flats constituting Overcliff Apartments on Manor Road are ignored

The existing cul de sac road sign needs to be both replaced and repositioned

Visitors seek free parking in The Leas to avoid the parking meters along the adjacent Western Esplanade Likewise the parking charges at the nearby Westcliff Station forecourt cause visitors to search for nearby unmetered space

Repeatedly vehicles are parked in The Leas in one spot, immobile for weeks on end And some park partly on the pavement

Allowing this cul de sac to be used for free parking on both sides creates problems for Council Refuse trucks which have to reverse up between the parked vehicles to access the rear of Overcliff Apartments As a result of badly parked vehicles damage to the trucks and parked vehicles is a constant risk

The same risk applies to large trucks making deliveries of large items to the rear of Overcliff Apartments These can also include skip lorries
